Master Stylist, and Buyer James Garnant opened the doors to a single chair salon in 2007, on Wealthy Street in East Grand Rapids called Sacred Roots. After establishing a tremendous personal following, that single chair grew to 6 stylists and support staff. In 2017, the salon scaled to a larger space with 14 chairs and the boutique was added. The James Salon and Boutique concept was launched. James opened a larger space in 2020 and enlisted additional top stylists to join him in the newly developed Ada VIllage. The current 5400 sq ft., The James Salon and Boutique, also includes a full service spa. In 2023, James expanded his boutique concept to Saugatuck MIchigan and The James Boutique has quickly become a staple in the lakeshore community.
James is a Utah native, and has called Southwest Michigan home for 17 years. The importance he places on client relationships and service, as well as community involvement has helped his dream of business ownership become reality. He also recognizes the importance in investing in future stylists and business owners, and mentors those new to the industry. James lives in SW MIchigan with his partner Merle, and their dog Otis.
